August 29th UPDATE!
The casino exit road eastbound.

The celebration included the christening of the first of two amphibious vehicles–otherwise known as “ducks”–that the casino is utilizing to transport patrons through the shallow waters that remain impassible by usual means. The “ducks” carry up to 28 patrons per trip–with tour bus style seating–to and from WinnaVegas Casino Resort. Patrons will park in the lot that was previously a Shell station located across from the WinnaVegas Inn.
“These ‘ducks’ have been used for tourism in many parts of the country. The Dells, the Ozarks, and Branson just to name a few,” says Deana Whistler, Interim Marketing Director at WinnaVegas Casino Resort. “During the short ride, the tires will most likely never leave the ground and the propellers will never run because the water is not high enough to require the vehicles ‘boat’ features to engage. It really is a very comfortable and fun ride.”
Patrons will pay $10 to board the “ducks” and receive a $10 Free Play for casino play in return. “Duck” riders under 17 years of age will receive a free buffet at WinnaVegas’ on site restaurant – Flower’s Island Restaurant.
WinnaVegas Casino Resort will run the “ducks” and be open from 10AM to 2AM daily throughout the “amphibious “ period with Bingo sessions on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays. WinnaVegas will return to its usual 24-hour operation as flood conditions improve and conditions allow. Flowers Island Restaurant and the River’s Edge Gift Shop will be open during these same hours. River’s Edge Gift Shop is fully stocked with gifts and all of its usual items.

December 23, 2010: Christmas came a bit early this year for a lucky Northeast Nebraska woman, as she hit a jackpot for $1,156,226 today on a penny machine at WinnaVegas Casino in Sloan, Iowa.
General Manager Catherine Colsrud says, “This is an exciting day at WinnaVegas. We see winners every day, but a prize this big is a whole other ball game. We don’t just pay it out like any other prize. When it’s a prize this big, the machine manufacturer, Bally Gaming, actually sends a team of techs out to the casino to verify the jackpot. Once the okay was given the celebration began!”
Presently the winner wishes to remain anonymous, she did state, this came at a very good time. She has been working 6 days a week and 12 hour shifts to help her sons attending college.
The payout will be in annual installments of $57,811.32 over 20 years.
